Carousel of Happiness announces Addison Grant success!

Submitted by Janette.Taylor on Mon, 08/24/2009 - 2:49pm. Categories:

The Carousel of Happiness board is pleased to announce that we have received an Addison mini-grant through the Boulder County Arts Alliance and the Addison family... the grant is for $500 that will finance a community art effort known as the "Carousel Fairy Project." Over 45 local people of all ages have expressed interest in making fairies for the project which, upon completion, will be up for adoption at $200 a piece to help complete the carousel building. The fairies will be placed strategically throughout the carousel building...

A regular schedule of Fairy Workshops will shortly be announced now that we have the funding to go forward with this project. Much gratitude to the Addison family and the BCAA!

Nederland Non-Profit Alliance Meeting Scheduled

Submitted by Janette.Taylor on Tue, 06/23/2009 - 5:54pm. Categories:

By overwhelming request, NANA is going to have its next meeting out of doors (sort of)...

On Monday, July 13, 2009, we are going to take over the Picnic Shelter in Chipita Park for a NANA potluck/meeting/get together. We will commence at around 6:30.

Feel free to bring kids to this, so a sitter will not be necessary. Please bring a dish to share, and grab that stash of paper plates, cups, plastic ware that you have left over from your various events to share as well (you know you have them).

We will have a brief business meeting and some good discussion, but most of all we will all get to know each other a bit better and enjoy this beautiful Summer.

NANA "Picnic" meeting notes

Submitted by Janette.Taylor on Tue, 07/14/2009 - 11:38am. Categories:

Thank you to everyone who came to the potluck meeting for NANA on July 13th!

A quick update to those of you who were unable to attend:

The "Buddy System" -- Serene is going to determine who on the NANA emailing list is not signed up on the NANA website, and participants are going to divide up that list to contact, encourage and, if needed, teach those not signed up how to use the website and remind them to post.

"Cracker Barrel" connection -- Janette, as recipient of "Cracker Barrel" postings for the Mountain Ear, is going to make a regular practice of reminding those who send in event postings that they should also post them on the NANA website.

Mountain Ear wants to hear from non-profits about upcoming events!

Submitted by Janette.Taylor on Thu, 07/02/2009 - 11:26am. Categories:

Dear all:

Just putting my other hat on for a moment, I would like to remind all non-profits in the area that the Mountain-Ear is always interested in what your organization is doing, and what events you have coming up. Please email or call and let us know about what's going on -- after all, Barbara Lawlor cannot be everywhere at once! Covering non-profits and their events is one of the missions of the newspaper.

Also, please note that we have recently altered our "Cracker Barrel" policy to include any and all events from non-profits, not just those with no admission charge. The Cracker Barrel is one of the  most popular sections of the ME.

Thanks, we look forward to hearing from you!

Peak Soccer Needs Help to Survive!

Submitted by Dallas.Masters on Mon, 05/25/2009 - 6:52pm. Categories:

Peak Soccer is in danger of ending permanently. This great program has provided Nederland elementary age kids with the opportunity to play soccer locally during the fall season for 7 years. The program has grown from 60 players to handling over 120 kids on 13 teams at three age levels. In the past, the program has been coordinated by 1 to 2 volunteers and most recently by one person. This person is not returning to the position. The increased numbers of participants have made the program coordination too big a task for one volunteer to realistically handle. If this program is to continue, the tasks need to be dispersed among more people.
